I don't think this registry file is going to help me debug this at all. I've been unable to create this problem in the various versions of windows I've tried, granted they are all inside a virtual machine, so maybe that's not helping me debug properly. What I'd look to do is to run polipo with debug logging, or with strace/gdb, or ida pro, or some sort of debugger to see what polipo receives when the S key is pressed, or what it thinks is going on when S is received by the OS.
