Hi, Sorry for the off-topic message, but I think some people might be interested.
If you like the design of Polipo, you'll certainly appreciate Trojitá. It's an IMAP-only mail client done right. http://trojita.flaska.net/ A little bit of background. There's not a lot of people who really understand network protocols, and those who do don't usually write client software -- they're too busy setting the infrastructure that makes the Internet tick. As an effect, most desktop mail clients I've tried to IMAP just wrong. IMAP is a complex protocol, and one that has a very difficult structure -- it's almost fully asynchronous, but not quite, which is why most client developers think it's a request-response protocol. Done right, IMAP is wonderfully responsive; done wrong, it's a dog. Almost like HTTP. Trojitá is a desktop mail client done by somebody who actually cares about doing IMAP right. While there are some parts of Trojitá's IMAP I don't necessarily agree with (or perhaps simply don't understand), I really like the IMAP traffic it generates. Looking at traffic traces generated by Trojitá reminds me of Polipo's early days, when it was the only implementation of HTTP able to generate decent traffic. -- Juliusz ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Precog is a next-generation analytics platform capable of advanced analytics on semi-structured data.
