Hello I have a question that i couldn't find it in documentations, and google searches didn't seem to work as well. I do live in Iran, where lots of websites and services are blocked. I wanted to know that can i use Polipo proxy server to get around the censorship? I currently have VPN programs, and i do use a software called "psiphone" which seems to use Polipo itself. these tools help me to access websites which are blocked, but i am looking to build a custom proxy server, so that i could only connect my mail client, (mozilla thunderbird) to it. Psiphone and other vpn softwares need to be turned on, and slow all of my connection. that is why i'm looking to connect my client to a custom proxy which is perminantly connected, so i could access my RSS feeds instantly without routing my hole network through a vpn.
I need to rent a virtual private server and learn some commandline, but before that I wanted to ask that if you have any information regarding this matter, and if polipo can be used to bypass censorship in a way that i described.
