If Fred Hiatt didn't have a neocon big media oligarch backing him (Donald
Graham, the owner of the Washington Post), Hiatt would be a big fat zero, or,
at best, a laughingstock in the blogosphere. The days of the Fred Hiatts of
the world will soon be coming to an end. Without being propped up by neocon
big money, they collapse into absurdity.

Glenn Greenwald can run circles around all the mainstream media pundits --
quite a few bloggers can. Mainstream media owners put pundits on their
payrolls who excel in mediocrity and cowardice; they are hired to defend the
financial interests of the owners. They are terrified that the world now has
the power to talk back to them and challenge them.

Thanks for two great articles: Iraq, Israel, Iran by David Bromwich, and Fred
Hiatt, Michael Ledeen and the "bomb Iran crazies", by Glenn Greenwald. I was
also extremely impressed by the reader comments for both articles. This is a
real tribute to the internet. The former "mainstream media" is dead as a
doornail.
The comments on Iraq, Israel, Iran are almost scary they are so good.
Obviously a lot of people have been quietly studying up on these things in a
very serious way and are speaking more and more freely.
