*How about a salad instead, sweetheart*

Since this is the week of the Blood Moon, it could just be something in the
air, but both The Washington
Post<http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/ruth-marcus-democrats-equal-pay-demagoguery/2014/04/09/59425640-c037-11e3-b574-f8748871856a_story.html>and
USAToday<http://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2014/04/14/war-women-obama-democrats-equal-pay-column/7670105/>have
published stories on the "War on Women" and the nefarious equal pay
meme and both writers side with...Republicans? *Well, butter my bum and
call me a biscuit. How'd that happen?* It seems that reporters at both
publications have been looking at actual FACTS and came to the conclusion
that:

   - Democratic office-holders pay their women staffers less than men.
   - It is unfair to compare ALL men's salaries against ALL women's
salaries as men tend to choose more dangerous jobs outside that tend to pay
a lot and women tend to choose safe and comfortable indoor ones.
   - Women tend to take a lot of time off to have and raise children.

*No $#%!, Sherlock!* Well, alrighty then. Not that any of the writers - or
Republicans, for that matter - want to see men making more money than women
for the same work, but basic admissions that the *rhetoric* surrounding the
issue is hyperbolic and to an extent shrill, is a step in the right
direction. Seriously, there aren't that many women on tree trimming crews
that work around power lines, but there are plenty doing the billing back
at the office. Men are also prevalent on sewer cleaning crews, demolition
crews, salvage crews and other dirty jobs that require big, strong people
to accomplish. Women are pretty good at keeping offices organized. We
have our differences and it keeps business humming along. When children
enter the world, it is the mother who does the birthing and nursing (and
most men are quite grateful for that). It takes time to recover. And no
one wants to leave a new baby in day care. Democrats paying women
less...they're on their own. *Glenn Harlan Reynolds of USA Today recommends
Republicans make a campaign issue out of that since it is a matter of
public record. WHOA, Nelly!* So, maybe, just maybe, recognizing that pay
equity is a fabricated issue in an election year to play on the idea of
sexism (reverse as it is the women picking on the men) in order to build
into the 2016 presidential election might, just might, be the beginning of
the end of The War on Women. Doubtful as so many women have so much
emotional attachment to it, but at least there is some objectivity out
there on the subject. More on this topic from Chicks on the
