*Hey, Hillary, Chairman Mao wants his jacket back. *
*(Who thought that look would be good?)*
As much as we conservatives want to pin a Benghazi tail on Hillary and make
her role or lack of it in the entire scandal a major campaign millstone for
2016, the better opportunity may end up being some of the State Department
failures around Boko Haram - the Islamic terrorist group responsible for
kidnapping teenage girls in Nigeria - and the fact that under Hillary's
watch, the organization was NOT officially named a terrorist organization.
The State Department under Hillary Clinton fought hard against placing the
al Qaeda-linked militant group Boko Haram on its official list of foreign
terrorist organizations for two years. And now, lawmakers and former U.S.
officials are saying that the decision may have hampered the American
government’s ability to confront the Nigerian group that shocked the world
by abducting hundreds of innocent girls. - The Daily
Beast<http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2014/05/07/hillary-s-state-department-refused-to-brand-boko-haram-as-terrorists.html>
Oh, really.
So, this champion of women and girls all over the world, who regularly
fails to call out any of the Islamic groups guilty of stoning women for
transgressions real or imagined, does not speak out against forced
sterilizations and abortions in China, and has yet to utter a word about
clitorectomies, has hitched her name to the #BringBackOurGirls bandwagon
AFTER her State Department let the group that's doing the kidnapping slide?
Hey, man, anybody fluent in Yiddish have a stronger word than chutzpah?
Seriously, this takes the cake.
To be perfectly clear about this, no conservative - especially not the
women - would EVER condone the kidnapping and sexual slavery of teenage
girls as is being done by Boko Haram. What they are doing, to those of us
with a conscience, is abhorrent. There is no question on that, and in that
regard, what help we can give the government of Nigeria which is searching
for these girls, is not a problem.
What IS a problem is that saving these girls gets the spotlight in such a
magnified way among feminists and Democratic activists and the millions of
other women suffering and oppressed and ruled by fear by the very same
sorts of groups all over the world have no voice among the self-described
champions for women and girls. Among my circle of galpals from all parts
of my life, #BringBackOurGirls has become a focal point of social media
passions and a story followed closely. Every last one of them is a dyed in
the wool Democrat - and some have actually reached moonbat status. Every
last one supports Hillary for president.
What would they do upon hearing that her State Department stood by and did
nothing as Boko Haram gained strength and power?
What Clinton didn’t mention was that her own State Department refused to
place Boko Haram on the list of foreign terrorist organizations in 2011,
after the group bombed the U.N. headquarters in Abuja. The refusal came
despite the urging of the Justice Department, the FBI, the CIA, and over a
dozen senators and congressmen.
“The one thing she could have done, the one tool she had at her disposal,
she didn’t use. And nobody can say she wasn’t urged to do it. It’s gross
hypocrisy,” said a former senior U.S. official who was involved in the
debate. “The FBI, the CIA, and the Justice Department really wanted Boko
Haram designated, they wanted the authorities that would provide to go
after them, and they voiced that repeatedly to elected officials.”
In May 2012, then-Justice Department official Lisa Monaco (now at the White
House)
wrote<http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/05/18/us-usa-security-bokoharam-idUSBRE84H01I20120518>
to
the State Department to urge Clinton to designate Boko Haram as a terrorist
organization. The following month, Gen. Carter Ham, the chief of U.S.
Africa Command, said that Boko Haram “are likely sharing funds, training,
and explosive materials” <http://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-18592789> with
al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb. And yet, Hillary Clinton’s State
Department still declined to place Boko Haram on its official terrorist
roster.
Really rather damning, and from The Daily
Beast<http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2014/05/07/hillary-s-state-department-refused-to-brand-boko-haram-as-terrorists.html>,
which is not a right leaning publication by any means. John Kerry
eventually DID add Boko Haram to the list of terrorist organizations, much
to his credit. (One thing he's actually done right.)
So, the question remains: can the omission of Boko Haram being a terrorist
organization be added to the litany of reasons why Hillary Clinton - a
failure at everything she has done - is a terrible choice for president be
made and absorbed by the very people who are passionate about finding
teenage girls kidnapped in Nigeria? (And will the mainstream media include
those details in their coverage. Yet another matter.)
Or is this another Hillary scandal released far enough ahead of the 2016
presidential campaign to get it out of the way.
Time will tell.
In the meantime, we on the political right will keep the girls kidnapped by
Boko Haram and those searching for them in our prayers.
For much more on the Clinton State Department failure in regards to Boko
Haram, The Daily
Beast<http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2014/05/07/hillary-s-state-department-refused-to-brand-boko-haram-as-terrorists.html>article
is very thorough.
