During the Sunday morning news shows
<http://video.foxnews.com/v/3699667878001/rep-steve-scalise-talks-gop-agenda-immigration-crisis/#sp=show-clips>,
several Republican lawmakers blasted President Barack Obama
<http://www.examiner.com/topic/barack-obama> for being "AWOL" on the
illegal alien crisis or for attending numerous fundraising events as if he
were still back in Chicago organizing members of the community to seek
empowerment and political advantage.

"As I watched the guests on "Fox News Sunday," "Meet the Press" and other
news shows, it was basically the same message: Obama is MIA -- missing in
action -- and appears to be disinterested in his roles as President of the
United States and the Commander in Chief of U.S. Armed Forces," claims
political strategist Michael Baker.

"It's become a cliche already, but always worth repeating: This is what
happens when Americans elect a community organizer instead of a Commander
in Chief.

For example, the new House of Representatives Majority Whip Steve Scalise
<http://foxnewsinsider.com/tag/rep-steve-scalise>, R-La., the highest
ranking so-called Tea Party candidate to win a congressional seat, during
his interview with Fox News anchorman Chris Wallace blamed President Obama
for the ongoing border crisis and the flood of illegal alien children from
Central America crossing the Mexico-Texas border.

"The President has been awol on this," Scalise, said on "Fox News Sunday."
"Ultimately, this is the president's responsibility."

Scalise is a co-sponsor of the English Language Unity Act, H.R. 997
<http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/113/hr997/text>which would make
English the official language of the United States. Scalise is working to
cut off taxpayer funded benefits for illegal immigrants, and is an original
co-sponsor of legislation that would end birthright citizenship, the
Birthright Citizenship Act, H.R. 140.

"The president seems to have a lot of time to [attend] fundraisers, but no
time to secure the border. He wants to sit back and play politics but
hasn't had time to come and sit down with Congress," Scalise said of
Obama's recent fundraising events for the upcoming 2014 election cycle in
which the control of the Senate may switch hands and give the GOP
majorities in both houses of Congress.

To protect the United States against terrorist attacks, Congressman Scalise
also believes Obama must protect our borders and beef-up security at U.S.
ports and entry points.

On CNN's "State of the Union" with Candy Crowley, Sen. Lindsey Graham
<http://sotu.blogs.cnn.com/2014/07/27/graham-obama-has-been-awol/>, R-S.C.,
complained about Obama failing to be actively involved in foreign policy
and the role of the U.S. as a world leader especially with the violence
occurring in Ukraine, Libya, Iraq, Israel, Syria and other hotspots in the
world.

Meanwhile, Rep. Peter King <http://peteking.house.gov/>, R-N.Y., the former
chairman of the Homeland Security Committee, characterized President
Obama's decision to attend so many fundraisers as being "disgraceful."

"That's absolutely disgraceful for the president of the United States” to
be at so many fundraisers when our nation is faced with so many crises and
problems, according to the outspoken King, who rarely pulls his punches in
the political ring.

In fact, King even brought up the Benghazi scandal that's been simmering on
the back-burner waiting for the House Select Committee to begin its
investigation under the chairmanship of Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C.

"Again, Benghazi... out to Las Vegas to raise money after the Americans are
killed in Benghazi," King said. "It's a failure of leadership... any
president can make a mistake, but this is a pattern. It's a pattern [in
which] in times of crisis he seems to just zone out."
