Governor-Senator-Mr. Secretary Muskie. No presidency for you. You've been
rat-@#$%&^!*
*The following is tough love. Sorry to have to do this, but the tilting at
windmills is wasting a lot of time and money.*
In honor of the 40th anniversary of President Richard M. Nixon's
resignation due to the Watergate scandal, here is the most under-rated
exchange from the movie "All the President's Men":
Deep Throat <http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001358/?ref_=tt_trv_qu>: What's
the topic for tonight?
Bob Woodward <http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000602/?ref_=tt_trv_qu>:
Rat-fucking.
Deep Throat <http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001358/?ref_=tt_trv_qu>: [lights a
cigarette] In my day it was called the double-cross. In simple context, it
means infiltration of the Democrats.
Bob Woodward <http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000602/?ref_=tt_trv_qu>: Segretti
wouldn't cooperate, but if he would we know he would implicate Chaipman.
Deep Throat <http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001358/?ref_=tt_trv_qu>: And that
will put you inside the White House.
Bob Woodward <http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000602/?ref_=tt_trv_qu>: Be
specific. How high up?
Deep Throat <http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001358/?ref_=tt_trv_qu>: You'll
have to find that out for yourself. I'm taking great risk meeting you here.
I don't like newspapers. I don't care for any exact aptitude then
shallowness.
Bob Woodward <http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000602/?ref_=tt_trv_qu>: CREEP's
slush fund... we've just about got that down nailed town with the
rat-fucking, I don't know how...
[footsteps are heard in the distance]
Deep Throat <http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001358/?ref_=tt_trv_qu>: Did you
remember to change cabs before coming here?
Bob Woodward <http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000602/?ref_=tt_trv_qu>: Yeah.
Does the FBI know what we know? Does the Justice Department? Why haven't
they done anything?
Deep Throat <http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001358/?ref_=tt_trv_qu>: If it
didn't deal directly with the Watergate break-in, they didn't pursue.
Bob Woodward <http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000602/?ref_=tt_trv_qu>: Who told
them not to investigate the break-in?
Deep Throat <http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001358/?ref_=tt_trv_qu>: Don't you
understand what you're on to?
Bob Woodward <http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000602/?ref_=tt_trv_qu>: Mitchell
knew?
Deep Throat <http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001358/?ref_=tt_trv_qu>: Of course
Mitchell knew. You think something this size just happens?
Bob Woodward <http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000602/?ref_=tt_trv_qu>:
Halderman had to know too.
Deep Throat <http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001358/?ref_=tt_trv_qu>: You'll
hear nothing from me about Halderman.
Bob Woodward <http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000602/?ref_=tt_trv_qu>: Segretti
told me and Bernstein that...
Deep Throat <http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001358/?ref_=tt_trv_qu>: [
interupting] Don't concentrate on Segretti. You'll miss the overall.
Bob Woodward <http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000602/?ref_=tt_trv_qu>: The
letter that destroyed the Muskie candidacy... did that come from inside the
White House?
Deep Throat <http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001358/?ref_=tt_trv_qu>: You're
missing the overall.
Bob Woodward <http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000602/?ref_=tt_trv_qu>: What
overall?
Deep Throat <http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001358/?ref_=tt_trv_qu>: *The
people behind all of this were frightened of Muskie and that's what got him
destroyed. They wanted to run against McGovern. Look who they're running
against. They bugged offices, they followed people, false press leaks,
passed fake letters... they canceled Democratic campaign rallies, they
investigated Democratic private lives, they planted spies, they stole
documents*... and now don't tell me that all of this was the work of one
Donald Segretti.
Quote from IMDB.com <http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074119/quotes>. Emphasis
from C.L.
Not even close. The sad thing is, this sort of stuff still happens. Yes,
the real scandal of Watergate was the cover-up, but the real lesson of 1972
was how Nixon destroyed a fellow presidential candidate because he was
afraid of him. Or the people behind Nixon financing him. In the end, it's
the same.
Why this is important 40 years later, is that in trying desperately to
dethrone "establishment" politicians who actually toe the party line more
often than not, the current wave of right-minded political probbies are
helping the Democrats rat-fuck the Republican Party as a whole and they
don't see it.
In fact, party insiders are painting the newbies - who's intentions are
pure - as the enemy:
The Tea Party has been a fifth column within the Republican Party, blowing
up bridges, sabotaging supply lines, creating false controversies, wasting
valuable party resources, and generally making it easier for Senate
Democrats and Barack Obama to stay in power.
The Tea Party worked with Democrats to nominate Sharron Angle to run
against Harry Reid. Reid had only once chance to win reelection, his
popularity ratings being so low. And that was if the Republicans nominated
Sharron Angle. He made sure that they did by funneling funds to her
primary campaign.
The Tea Party worked with Democrats to nominate Christine O’Donnell. There
was only one way that Mike Castle was not going to be elected to the
Senate, and that was if he lost in a primary.
The Tea Party wanted Ken Buck. And guess who the Democrats wanted to win
in Colorado. Ken Buck. Guess which side now controls that Colorado Senate
seat? The Democrats.
Claire McCaskill wanted Todd Akin to win the Republican primary in
Missouri. So did the Tea Party. Guess who won her race for reelection,
despite overwhelming odds? The Democrat Claire McCaskill, because she beat
Todd Akin, who famously made rape a partisan issue.
The Tea Party pushed Richard Mourdock. Democrats saw Mourdock as their
only hope to win in Indiana because Richard Lugar was a beloved figure in
the Hoosier State. Who is the new Senator from the Hoosier State? Joe
Donnelly.
One Tea Party organization, Freedom Works, paid off its founder and patron
saint, Dick Armey, to the tune of 8 million dollars. What was that all
about? Shouldn’t that money go to Republican candidates?
Another organization, Club for Growth, seems to go out of its way to make
the National Republican Congressional Committee waste valuable resources
defending incumbents who vote with the party 90% of the time. The Club
seems to really enjoy clubbing Republicans. They barely lay a glove on
Democrats. SOURCE

When the employees of the people who are actually in charge and are at the
top of the food chain are saying this about a movement that is on the same
side politically, there's a real problem.
We're supposed to be sabotaging the other side, like the Nixon people did
sinking Muskie, not helping the opposition win seats currently held by
Republicans by primarying sitting RINOs. They might be squishy on some
conservative sacred cows, but they're not going to vote lock-step with the
Obama White House. And right now, that is more important.
This is a problem that a whole lot of people on the right don't want to
acknowledge, but it is there. It is a lesson this writer learned quite
well when Blondie McCaskill held on to her seat despite being so far behind
in this state, at primary time she was written off. Rat-fucking is real.
If the political right has any chance of gaining a respected foothold at
the federal level, better take this lesson to heart.
