Where do you get that the Crusades were not to stop Islamic Jihad? Because the multiple wars were sanctioned by the Roman Catholic Church, (and rightfully should have been) your continued belief that your Muslim Brothers are just flat out nice folks and loving brothers is as stated, "Goofy".
