Personally, I think their motivation is well understood, and we've spent way too much time on such nonsense.
Clinton's statement is analogous to asking the child rapist what motivated him to rape the five year old little girl; or why Ted Bundy went on a murdering/raping spree. We can sit around and ponder, or speculate about what it is our enemies were thinking after they have been eliminated.
