A white college age protester dares to try to explain racism to a black police officer who grew up in the Jim Crow south. Please be prepared to be humored, angered and baffled as the clueless liberal perfectly exemplifies modern white liberalism. Student Protester: “As a person of color, are you ashamed to be part of such a corrupt system? As a black man have you ever experienced racism?” Cop: “It has nothing to do with race. I grew up in Jackson, Mississippi, OK? Where the restrooms had ‘colored only’ and ‘whites only.’ I couldn’t ride in the front of the bus. My mom had to sit in the back with all of us. So, I grew up in the Deep South when I was 16-years-old, so I know racism, okay? I can spot it.” The Police officer goes on to explain that every ethnicity, every race discriminates – to which the student generally agrees … but then says. Student Protester: “Racism is different. Racism is a structure of power to keep you down! You are a black man! You are kept down by your race even if you won’t accept it! The protester then rejects this idea saying that bias and discrimination are two different things… Student Protester: it’s not based on your skin color. I’m talking about your race! The color of your skin… You’re a black man! You will never reach the same pinnacle as a white man in this system because you are black!” Cop: “Let me ask you a question. What do you do to help the community, in your free time?” Student Protester: “I’m a college student! I’m conducting research – this is a part of my research! This is what black people experience and how they experience it. I’m bringing things into my community academically.” Cop: “So in my free time, I go back to my neighborhood, work with the students. Don’t get paid …” Student Protester: “Are you helping your black community out?!” Cop: “It doesn’t matter what race they are.” Student Protester(s): “YES IT DOES! YES IT DOES!” Cop: “So, I should go to a school and volunteer and tell all the African-American students, ‘I want to help you out,’ but all the others, the Asians, the Hispanic kids, not help them out? That’s wrong. Come on!” Student Protester: “You are a black police officer!” So the black police officer who has lived with real, ugly racism throughout his life is forced to explain how backwards what the affluent white college students are doing… and they just shout him down. What the officer is so beautifully trying to explain is that as long as we think of our selves as groups instead of *people*, racism will persist. We should bless each other with grace, mercy and love… no matter the color of our skin. White, black, brown, yellow, red or polka dot… we all need love. Don’t you get it, folks? White upper-middle class liberals just know what is best for us and they’re going to force us to take it… even if we don’t want it.
