*CHARLOTTE, NC,* February 2, 2015 – Where is Winston Churchill when you
need him?

Back when Churchill was the British prime minister, he was just about the
only world leader who recognized Adolf Hitler’s true intentions.

It is beginning to look as though history is repeating itself only this
time without a Churchill in the wings.

President Barack Obama responded to his critics over his refusal to
identify Islamic terrorism on CNN by saying “I think that for us to be
successful in fighting this scourge, it’s very important for us to align
ourselves with the 99.9 percent of Muslims who are looking for the same
thing we’re looking for: order, peace, prosperity. And so I don’t quibble
with labels.”

In other words Islam is the Ivory soap of religion because it is “99 and
forty-four one hundreths percent pure.”

Even if Obama’s numbers were accurate, which they are not, Robert Spencer
of *Jihad Watch* points out “that still leaves 1.3 million jihadis or jihad
sympathizers.”

Furthermore asks Spencer, “Where are the Muslim organizations that are
dedicated to working against the jihadists? Where are the Muslim marches
and protests against al-Qaeda, the Islamic State, and all the hijackers of
Islam? Where are the Muslim protests against the killing of the cartoonists
and in support of the freedom of speech? Why is this 99.9% so silent and
passive in the face of this “hijacking” of their religion?”

Actually, though few in number, there are some Muslim leaders who at long
last are speaking out. Most noted among them is General Abdel Fatah el-Sisi
of Egypt.

At the moment the ray of light is little more than a pinprick of hope at
the distant end of a long tunnel. We can only pray that like that first
sign of melting on your frost-covered windshield in winter our “Islamic
defroster” will slowly remove the ice that eventually yields a new window
of vision.

The Muslims who are speaking out “get it” while other world leaders sleep
through the growing menace of Islamic terror.

Writing in *Al-Sharq Al-Aswat,* a pan-Arabic daily publication, Mamoun
Fandy stated “Muslims need to ‘upgrade their software,’ which is programmed
mainly by our schools, television and mosques – especially small mosques
that trade in what is forbidden. There is no choice but to dismantle this
system and rebuild it in a way that is compatible with human culture and
values.”

In Iraq, Aziz Al-Haff wrote, “What is needed before anything else is for
states, peoples and elites in the Arab and Muslim world to learn a lesson.
It is not enough for some Muslim religious leader to appear on (television)
screens and condemn (Islamic attacks). It has been ten years or more since
Muslims, either in the West or in the Arab world, held a mass demonstration
against the attacks, killings and abductions perpetuated by Islamic
terrorist groups in the West or in the Muslim’s lands themselves.”

Former director of Al-Arabiya TV, Abd Al-Rahman Al-Rashad, agrees with the
idea that the solutions to Islamic terrorism must come from Muslims
themselves. In a separate article in *Al-Sharq Al-Aswat* Al-Rashad wrote,
“Protests against the recent terrorist attacks in France should have been
held in Muslim capitals, rather than Paris, because in this case it is
Muslims who are involved in this crisis and stand accused, and are expected
to declare their innocence. The story of extremism begins in Muslim
societies, and it is with their *support and silence* (emphasis added) that
extremism is harming people across the world.”

Perhaps most vocal among the limited number of Islamic voices condemning
jihadi acts was Rotterdam Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb who bluntly told Islamic
extremists that if they don’t like Western freedoms, the should “f*** off.”

Aboutaleb went on to say, “It’s incomprehensible that you turn against
freedom like that, but if you don’t like this freedom, for heaven’s sake,
get your suitcase, and leave.”

Based upon Barack Obama’s point of view, Ben Shapiro of B*reitbart News*
says, “Presumably, all of these people are Islamophobic.”

Just in case Shapiro’s sarcasm may be missed by many, he further writes,
“Western leaders prefer the simpleminded fairy tale that radical Islam
doesn’t truly exist, that it is a buzzword utilized by a handful of
terrorists, and that *true* widespread Muslim discontent doesn’t come from
a popular interpretation of Islam but from Western sins.”

And so while the president of the United States, other Western leaders and
the media perpetuate their illusions and misunderstanding of Islam by
debating the issue with their heads buried deeply in the sand, the world
continues its search for another Winston Churchill who can ultimately keep
our heads above the water.
