This is my humble opinion on vaccinations. I had infantile paralysis (polio) when I was ten weeks old. It affected my entire body. I didn't walk until I was 3 years old. Twice I had heavy, clunky plaster casts on both legs, for six weeks, from toes to upper thighs. I wore lower leg braces until I was 11 or 12. I've had 7 surgeries and had 125+ stitches on my calves and feet by the time I was 8. I was diagnosed with Post Polio Syndrome 12 years ago. I'm one of the few to have survived 70 years after infection. I worked full time until I was 63 and part-time until I turned 69. Would I get the polio shots if it reappeared? No, but I'm open-minded to re-evaluate my thoughts. Right now I'd rely on the herd effect... Because: It's not up to me to get a substance I don't believe is safe and/or effective, injected into my body, to protect you from a disease you believe you are protected from, because you arrived at a personal conclusion/opinion that you require the injection. If I don't get vaccinated and you get any disease that you are vaccinated against, why would that be my fault? It's been reported that more than half of those with measles were already vaccinated. How effective is it? Kids who are on "schedule" are vaccinated against 20 different diseases in their first six years of life. Brains, lungs, kidneys, bone marrow, etc. are developing in little bodies and the CDC recommends messing with their immune systems to 20 diseases. Please see the second link about mercury, MSG and formaldehyde in the injection formulas. http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vac-gen/side-effects.htm#mmr Moderate Problems - Seizure (jerking or staring) caused by fever (about 1 out of 3,000 doses) - Temporary pain and stiffness in the joints, mostly in teenage or adult women (up to 1 out of 4) - Temporary low platelet count, which can cause a bleeding disorder (about 1 out of 30,000 doses) 333 out of a million - Where and when is a good time to suddenly have a seizure? 33 out of a million - a bleeding disorder is too vague. Do they mean internal or external bleeding in kids who routinely get external cuts and bruises from active playing? I wonder how many get additional infections through those cuts. http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vac-gen/additives.htm Common substances found in vaccines include: - Aluminum gels or salts of aluminum which are added as adjuvants to help the vaccine stimulate a better response. Adjuvants help promote an earlier, more potent response, and more persistent immune response to the vaccine. - Antibiotics which are added to some vaccines to prevent the growth of germs (bacteria) during production and storage of the vaccine. No vaccine produced in the United States contains penicillin. - Egg protein is found in influenza and yellow fever vaccines, which are prepared using chicken eggs. Ordinarily, persons who are able to eat eggs or egg products safely can receive these vaccines. - Formaldehyde is used to inactivate bacterial products for toxoid vaccines, (these are vaccines that use an inactive bacterial toxin to produce immunity.) It is also used to kill unwanted viruses and bacteria that might contaminate the vaccine during production. Most formaldehyde is removed from the vaccine before it is packaged. - Monosodium glutamate (MSG) and 2-phenoxy-ethanol which are used as stabilizers in a few vaccines to help the vaccine remain unchanged when the vaccine is exposed to heat, light, acidity, or humidity. - Thimerosal is a mercury-containing preservative that is added to vials of vaccine that contain more than one dose to prevent contamination and growth of potentially harmful bacteria. For children with a prior history of allergic reactions to any of these substances in vaccines, parents should consult their child’s healthcare provider before vaccination.
I don't get the flu shots and I don't get the flu. People with egg allergies, beware. I didn't want and couldn't get the whooping cough vaccination (the hyped-up disease a few years ago) because I'm allergic to the tetanus vaccine that's quietly included with it (TDaP). My employer (medical field) "required" it and fortunately I've always listed tetanus as an allergy so their fight with me stopped when I just happened to notice the "T" stood for tetanus. No one volunteered that information. If I went along with the herd mentality, or didn't do my own research, who knows what reaction I could have had. Who would be responsible if I had seizure? Me. My fault. My problem. My responsibility. Whose body are you responsible for? It's yours. You have the right to do with it as you wish. My body belongs to me. I decide what it good for me and I accept responsibility for my own actions. They are guided parents, not misguided. That's your opinion as a non parent. They aren't trying to harm their children. They think, ask questions, and research. They seek guidance using links such as above. They weigh the facts as they understand them. They decide what's best for their child. They are doing what they think is right. Would they be good parents if they did what they truly believe is wrong? Some are fired by their child's pediatrician if they don't obediently follow his order to vaccinate! Thank you to everyone who took the time to read all this.
