Let's be clear about this "Net Neutrality" nonsense. It has an appealing title because it is the best way to get the inattentive public to fall for the con.
But just like all the other dishonest promises made by O and the Dems, the bait has nothing to do with the end result that the Dems want. This is the foot in the door for starting an endless succession of taxes and restrictions on the internet, the internet businesses, and the internet users. That is a BIG STEP since it will interfere with a resource that is relatively undamaged up to this point! And once the government restrictions and taxes take hold, it will be 100x as difficult to remove them. Remember that the income tax started at a rate of 1% and only applied to the richest people. Where are we now? No matter how well something is working, the Dems and Leftists and Socialists are eager to destroy its vitality as long as they gain power, control, and money. Improving the world is not on their menu. This is one field where the U.S. could maintain and even increase a lead on the other countries, but that will be much harder if we strangle the internet in its crib. The U.S. gave birth to the internet a couple short decades ago, and we are now about to give it away to organizations that will misuse it and impede it. Of course, the Dems and other malicious Leftists don't mind if we give it away, since it is "unfair" and "social injustice" and "greedy" if the evil U.S. gets to benefit from its own invention. In their minds, it is better to punish the U.S. than to benefit the world. Under no conditions should the U.S. derive any benefits! If you wonder whether I am being overly dramatic, just look at the "Carbon Dioxide Crisis" and "Carbon Credits". A fake crisis that leads inevitably to profits out of thin air (or "thin carbon dioxide") in a market that never previously existed based on normal supply and demand. Then pile on the massive expansion of Big Government and Big International/UN Governments! At least it helped a few insiders make enormous profits based upon....nothing of worth. What benefits did the average people of the world receive? NONE! Unless you count the peace of mind that comes from "preventing" some future crisis that may or may not happen and even then, only in the distant future where its failure to appear will be forgotten or covered up. Oh, I forgot, the regular citizens of the world will benefit from the cute lack of drowning Polar Bears....of which there never have been any, nor will there be. ------ Randy *************************************** http://mobile.nytimes.com/blogs/bits/2015/02/20/internet-taxes-another-window-into-the-net-neutrality-debate/?_r=0&referrer= Internet Taxes, Another Window Into the Net Neutrality Debate In a rare act of bipartisan unity, Republican and Democratic senators last week presented legislation that would permanently ban taxes on high-speed Internet service to American homes. The bipartisan moment passed quietly, and understandably so. There’s no bold new step here. The legislation would make permanent a prohibition originally enacted in 1998, the Internet Tax Freedom Act, and reauthorized periodically since. The House passed a companion bill last year. But the Senate move came shortly after Tom Wheeler, chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, proposed strong, utility-style rules <http://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/05/technology/fcc-wheeler-net-neutrality.html> to protect an open Internet, or net neutrality. That reignited the debate over whether regulation plucked from the telephone playbook, called Title II, would open the door to the imposition of state and local taxes and fees — the litany of charges on monthly phone bills. There were echoes of different motivations in the statements last week from the two principal sponsors of the Senate bill. Ron Wyden, an Oregon Democrat and an author of the 1998 bill, emphasized the importance of the bill as a step to advance individual freedom. It was needed, Mr. Wyden said in a statement, to “protect the openness and viability of the Internet as a platform for commerce, speech, and the exchange of ideas.” The Republican sponsor, John Thune of South Dakota, emphasized economic freedom. “For 21st century innovators and entrepreneurs, the Internet is their lifeblood,” Mr. Thune said. “We should be celebrating their success, not taxing the tools they use to achieve it.” Mr. Thune opposes the approach being pursued by the F.C.C. chairman. The senator has prepared legislation that embraces the principles of net neutrality, including a ban on blocking web traffic or offering pay-to-play fast lanes for those who can afford it and slow lanes for everyone else. But his legislation would prohibit the F.C.C. from issuing regulations to achieve those goals. __._,_.___ ------------------------------ Posted by: "beowulf" <[email protected]> ------------------------------ Visit Your Group <https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/grendelreport/info;_ylc=X3oDMTJmb3FpcGVqBF9TAzk3MzU5NzE0BGdycElkAzIwMTk0ODA2BGdycHNwSWQDMTcwNTMyMzY2NwRzZWMDdnRsBHNsawN2Z2hwBHN0aW1lAzE0MjUyNDgyODI-> - New Members <https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/grendelreport/members/all;_ylc=X3oDMTJnZjhnZmd2BF9TAzk3MzU5NzE0BGdycElkAzIwMTk0ODA2BGdycHNwSWQDMTcwNTMyMzY2NwRzZWMDdnRsBHNsawN2bWJycwRzdGltZQMxNDI1MjQ4Mjgy> 1 [image: Yahoo!
