A number of years ago we were in Germany and we toured both East and West
Berlin. The tour guide spoke of the fall of the Wall and the subsequent
reunification of the two Germanys. She said the biggest problem they faced was
that the East Germans did not know how to work and it was because of the
socialist system they were under since the end of World War 2. She said that
under their old system where everyone was paid the same salary.....folks
showed up for work and went to coffee as part of their normal routine. Came
back to the stations and worked for a couple of hours and went to lunch.
Lunch was a couple of hours and back to work and out the door at 4:00 or
5:00pm. They could not adjust to the way the West Germans worked......they
worked hard and long hours and that's why they are probably the wealthest
nation in Europe. Also, with reunification and this common lack of work ethic
because it didn't matter how hard you worked everyone got the same
pay.......the East Germans were at the bottom of the total social heap and
that was
causing other problems in their society......I believed her and I believe
that this story is probably true based on the german reality.

 THE DEATH OF REASON

"SOME IDEAS ARE SO STUPID ONLY INTELLECTUALS BELIEVE THEM."

--George Orwell

When the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great, but when
government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to
succeed.

Is this man truly a genius? Checked it out and it is true...it
happened!

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had
never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire
class. That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that
no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class
on Obama's plan". All grades will be averaged and everyone will receive
the same grade so no one will fail and no one will receive an A....
(substituting grades for dollars - something closer to home and more
readily understood by all).

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B.
The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied
little were happy. As the second test rolled around, the students who
studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard
decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.

The second test average was a D! No one was happy.

When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.

As the tests proceeded, the scores never increased as bickering, blame and
name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study
for the benefit of anyone else.

To their great surprise, ALL FAILED and the professor told them that
socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great,
the effort to succeed is great, but when government takes all the
reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.

It could not be any simpler than that. (Please pass this on)

Remember, there IS a test coming up. The 2016 elections.

These are possibly the 5 best sentences you'll ever read and all
applicable to this experiment:

1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the
wealthy out of prosperity.

2. What one person receives without working for, another person must
work for without receiving.

3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government
does not first take from somebody else.

4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!

5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work
because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the
other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody
else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the
end of any nation.

The Will
Doug Smith is on his deathbed and knows the end is near. His _nurse_

and his wife, are with him. He asks for 2 witnesses to be present and
a camcorder be in place to record his last wishes, and when all is ready
he
begins to speak: My son, "Bernie, I want you to take the Mayfair house.
My daughter, Sybil, you take the apartments over in the east end. My son,
Jamie,
I want you to take the offices over in the City Centre. Sarah, my dear
wife, please take all the residential buildings on the banks of the river."

The nurse and witnesses are blown away as they did not realize his
extensive holdings, and as Doug slips away, the nurse says, "Mrs.
S mith, your husband must have been such a hard-working man
to have accumulated all this property". Sarah replies, "Property ? ....
He had paper routes!"

The Photo
The children had all been photographed, and the teacher was trying
to persuade them each to buy a copy of the group picture. "Just think
how nice it will be to look at it when you are all grown up and say,
'There's Jennifer; she's a lawyer,' or 'That's Michael, he's a doctor.'" A
small voice
from the back of the room rang out, "And there's the teacher; she's still
old, nasty, and wrinkled."

Exact Quote

For my business-law class, we often give oral briefs of legal
cases in our textbook. Our professor frequently interrupts with
questions to be certain we understand what we are saying. One
day, a classmate mistakenly used a complex term, and the professor
was quick to lecture him on the use of legal jargon, ending with, "What
makes you think I want to hear words straight out of the book?"
"Well," replied my classmate calmly. "You wrote it."

Gone for Cotton
A bill collector knocked on the door of a country debtor. "Is Fred
home"?
h e asked the woman who answered the door. "Sorry," the woman replied.
"Fred's gone for cotton. The next day, the collector tried again. "Is Fred
here today"? "No, sir," she said. "I'm afraid Fred has gone for cotton."
When he returned the third day, he humphed, "I suppose Fred is gone for
cotton
again"? "No," the woman answered solemnly. "Fred died yesterday."
Suspicious that he was being avoided, the collector decided to wait a
week and investigate the cemetery himself. But sure enough, there was
poor Fred's tombstone, with this inscription: "Gone, but not for
cotton."

Your file was so big.
It might be very useful.
But now it is gone.
The Web site you seek
Cannot be located, but
Countless more exist.
Chaos reigns within.
Reflect, repent, and reboot.
Order shall return.

Close all that you have worked on.
You ask far too much.
Yesterday it worked.
Today it is not working.
Windows is like that.
First snow, then silence.
This thousand-dollar screen dies
So beautifully.
With searching comes loss
And the presence of absence:

Stay the patient course.
Of little worth is your ire.
The network is down.
