New Info Revealed About Bowe Bergdahl Is Sure To Make Obama Happy [image: WCJ images Bergdahl Obama]
Possibly a big impact on the desertion defense... Norvell Rose <http://www.westernjournalism.com/author/norvellrose/> June 16, 2015 at 9:16am If a former CIA operative is to be believed, accused deserter Bowe Bergdahl may not have walked away from his Army post in Afghanistan in search of a Taliban contact. Bergdahl, says the former spy, was smoking hashish with a group of Afghan soldiers when he was taken prisoner by nomads in 2009 and later sold to a terror network in Pakistan. What’s most interesting about this new information suddenly revealed by a man identified as Duane Clarridge is that it could possibly be used by Bergdahl’s defense team to try to beat the charge of desertion. It could also help President Obama save face in that he could argue the Taliban Five were not traded for a deserter, but rather to gain freedom for a soldier who screwed up by getting high away from his unit. Clarridge’s account of Bergdahl’s supposed drug use and capture by nomads came to light in an exclusive report by Catherine Herridge of Fox News <http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2015/06/15/former-cia-operative-bergdahl-was-high-when-captured-in-afghanistan/>. Herridge treated the account as another piece of the Bergdahl puzzle: *The information brings some additional detail to the otherwise murky picture of the circumstances of Bergdahl’s disappearance and capture, five years before the Obama administration traded five Guantanamo prisoners for Bergdahl’s freedom. The former CIA operative told Fox News Bergdahl was captured along with others, and sold to the Haqqani terrorist network in Pakistan within four days.* As Western Journalism <http://www.westernjournalism.com/breaking-army-made-decision-charging-bowe-bergdahl-desertion/> reported in late March of this year, the U.S. Army, following a lengthy investigation, charged Sgt. Bergdahl with desertion and, in the process, opened a can of worms for the Obama administration. Bergdahl, then a private assigned to a post in Afghanistan, went missing from his base in 2009. His correspondence prior to his disappearance indicated Bergdahl had grown disillusioned with the U.S. military’s mission, and many of his colleagues claimed that Bergdahl had abandoned his post. He was held captive in Pakistan by the Haqqani network, an insurgent group allied with the Taliban. Then, in a highly controversial move, President Obama agreed to swap five Taliban detainees from Guantanamo for Bergdahl. The release of the captive soldier was celebrated with great self-congratulatory fanfare in the White House Rose Garden. So any story that might soften the criticism of the president’s prisoner swap — a story such as Bergdahl’s being high and irresponsible rather than being an out-and-out deserter — would likely be welcomed by the White House. By way of background, the 30-year veteran of the CIA who stepped forward to give Fox News the hashish-smoking story about Bergdahl was reportedly involved in the Iran-Contra affair. Bowe Bergdahl’s military hearing on the desertion charge has been postponed until September. __._,_.___ ------------------------------ Posted by: "Beowulf" <[email protected]> ------------------------------ Visit Your Group <https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/grendelreport/info;_ylc=X3oDMTJmNTJ0bjFmBF9TAzk3MzU5NzE0BGdycElkAzIwMTk0ODA2BGdycHNwSWQDMTcwNTMyMzY2NwRzZWMDdnRsBHNsawN2Z2hwBHN0aW1lAzE0MzQ0OTc5NTg-> - New Members <https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/grendelreport/members/all;_ylc=X3oDMTJnNmkzM2swBF9TAzk3MzU5NzE0BGdycElkAzIwMTk0ODA2BGdycHNwSWQDMTcwNTMyMzY2NwRzZWMDdnRsBHNsawN2bWJycwRzdGltZQMxNDM0NDk3OTU4> 1 [image: Yahoo!
