Typical Liberal BS but I agree with one thing the author of the email respose says that we should know and understand foreign cultures as to not make mistakes in dealing with them.....I totally agree that we need to know and understand Islamo-Facism and it's roots in the Koran that dictates for the last 1,400 years how Moslems should act.....now, I point out that our religious teachings have been modified and updated during the last 1,400 years but Islam has not. The Koran intsructs Moslems to destroy the western civilization and all westerners should be aware of that and their other instructions to their followers. Islamo-Facism is the greatest threat posed to the West since the fall of Communism and we need to be prepared for the long haul in dealing with this threat. The current Administration has been inneffective in dealing with Islamo-Facism for fear of offending those Moslems who are not part of their program. It's apparent that the Moderate Moslems have also been ineffective in dealing with this segment of their own community. In a message dated 11/16/2015 11:40:25 P.M. Thanks for that interesting little clip showing how statistics can be a useful tool to justify any nationalist reasoning to be open to any political/military measure against members of ethnic groups inside a country. Unfortunately to the young muslima student she's a member of the peaceful majority of the muslims inside the USA who wouldn't want to get into difficulties by just trying to remind the debaters that the majority of muslims are peaceful. In fact Ms. Gabriel is using a classic dead-beat argument she did learn during her time at college/university during her debate training in her rhetoric class. The structure of her argumentation ending up with 19 hijackers who 'put the USA to her knees' after the rather long list of millions of people in different countries and various historical times is a typical sign for that kind of propaganda. And it's nothing else but propaganda. Everything sounds perfectly logic as long as the listener doesn't have any clue about the background(s) of the various societies mentioned. A typical American debate - everybody else is guilty except the USA who are always the innocent victim. 'Masses are always easy to manipulate' - a statement of former German chancellor and 'elder statesman' Helmut Schmidt who passed away a week ago defines the historical/psychological law Ms. Gabriel is using as argument. The interesting thing about it is that it doesn't prove strength but fear towards an 8+ million minority inside her own society. It's not a sign of strength to show the underlying threat of Ms. Gabriels argumentation: to be ready to refrain to 'measures or reactions' against the muslim group as we could see earlier in history against American citizens of German descent during WW I (physical attacks) and of Japanese descent during WW II (concentrating legal American citizens in camps). Ms. Gabriel's eloquent tirade only has one goal: to feed the fears of the American 'silent majority' who is no better than any other majority of any other other society in history who only wants (wanted) to live in peace. Psychologists call it 'in-group/out-group thinking. Every administration in history used it to hide the own flaws and failures from the silent majority inside their country to be able to remain in power. If you were a member of a silent majority - wouldn't you do almost everything not to seem to belong to the out-group? The question is who is allowed to define who's in-group... who will win the profit? Let us not over-estimate Ms. Gabriel and her one-dimensional way of argumentation - it can help us to acknowledge the major human mistake in Western thinking: we get afraid of the foreign and the violence that so we stop getting to learn anything else of the feared foreigners except those parts of their culture we're afraid of or can use as a weapon against them. Plus we completely forget about what we've done to turn it into a crisis filling us with sorrow and even more fear. Getting to know foreign cultures and avoid mistakes like hurting religious or national feelings may be the better way not to get into crises's of such kind for the future. We no longer live in caves - ma be we'll be able to stop to learn to stop thinking in matters of defending our caves. We need to improve ourselves as mankind so we definitely become better than a group of twinks who turned to fanaticism and crimes against humanity (a Western term) due to the troubled situation of their lives and societies and the resulting frustration and anger. They are mislead people who turned to criminals - where is the alternative we can offer to them instead of surrender to Western culture they only experienced as cold, greedy and arrogant defying the efforts and knowledge their culture added to mankind's profit?
