December 6, 2015 *Rebuking Obama's Folly*

Roddie Edwards <http://www.timesofisrael.com/israel-honors-us-gi-who-told-the-nazis-we-are-all-jews/> who, while a prisoner in a German POW camp, refused, even with a loaded gun pointed at his head to designate which of his fellow prisoners were Jewish (and therefore subject to certain murder). He ordered all 1,000 American captives at the Stalag IXA POW camp to step forward when his captors ordered all Jews to step forward, saying “We are all Jews here.” He led and the men under his command all followed as a rebuke to Nazi hatred and proof of the cohesive force of courageous men who eschewed all efforts to divide them. We need a national leader like that to lead us against the murderous forces of Islamic terrorism. We don’t have that man in the White House. We are led instead by a cowardly, ill-informed, blockhead who has done everything in his power to destroy national unity and power, and his most recent conduct <http://www.wsj.com/articles/climate-change-fish-story-1448997737> makes my claim irrefutable. “You go down to Miami and when it’s flooding at high tide on a sunny day, the fish are swimming through the middle of the streets,” President Obama claimed at a press conference this morning. We go down to Miami with some frequency and have never seen any such thing. And believe us, we know how to troll. The fish story is not the only bizarre assertion to come from the president during the “climate change” conference in Paris. Yesterday he opened a speech at the gathering by suggesting the powwow itself was a way of fighting terrorism: *We offer our condolences to the people of France for the barbaric attacks on this beautiful city. We stand united in solidarity not only to deliver justice to the terrorist network responsible for those attacks but to protect our people and uphold the enduring values that keep us strong and keep us free. And we salute the people of Paris for insisting this crucial conference go on -- an act of defiance that proves nothing will deter us from building the future we want for our children. What greater rejection of those who would tear down our world than marshaling our best efforts to sa*ve it? That made even Mother Jones a bit incredulous. Meanwhile, *National Journal*’s Ben Geman reports, a bit credulously, that “the White House wants no part of the ‘terrorism versus climate change’ threat-ranking game”: Republicans have long pounded top Democrats -- including Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, and John Kerry -- for deeming climate change a danger on par with (or ahead of) terrorist attacks, saying their statements underscore a failure to take groups such as ISIS seriously. Obama is an anti-nationalist. It’s so *infra dig* to a sophisticate like him. Worse, he’s a man who thinks ill of his country and its citizens. Instead of dealing with really serious matters at home, he traveled and lived it up in luxurious style in Paris to participate in yet another silly climate change conference while spouting numerous lies and slanders about his own country. These are confabs where equally fatuous world leaders pretend there’s a crisis which can only be solved by Solyndra-izing, that is, by giving them even bigger pots of money to distribute to their friends to squander. An Israeli-made surveillance balloon <http://www.jpost.com/page.aspx?pageid=7&articleid=435825> protected the conference (which was predicated on the notion that climate change, not terrorism, was the biggest threat, from terrorism) ironically enough. The conference itself was a preposterous event, made more so by Obama’s ravings. At the very site where just days before scores of French citizens had been slaughtered by jihadis it took real chutzpah to insist the climate was the big threat to the world and for Obama to assert the lie <https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/volokh-conspiracy/wp/2015/12/01/fact-check-obama-claim-that-i-say-this-every-time-weve-got-one-of-these-mass-shootings-this-just-doesnt-happen-in-other-countries/>that the U.S. was the only country <http://www.dailywire.com/news/1486/obama-says-us-only-country-mass-shootings-paris-ben-> where mass murders occur. Why did these pols even try this stunt <http://www.wsj.com/article_email/liberalisms-imaginary-enemies-1448929043-lMyQjAxMTI1MjA0MTkwNjEyWj> ? I’m not the first to notice the incongruity of this huge gathering of world leaders meeting to combat a notional enemy in the same place where a real enemy just inflicted so much mortal damage. Then again, it’s also appropriate, since reality-substitution is how modern liberalism conducts political business. What is the central liberal project of the 21st century, if not to persuade people that climate change represents an infinitely greater threat to human civilization than the barbarians—sorry, violent extremists -- of Mosul and Molenbeek? Why overreact to a few hundred deaths today when hundreds of thousands will be dead in a century or two if we fail to act now? Here again the same dishonest pattern is at work. The semantic trick in the phrase “climate change” --allowing every climate anomaly to serve as further proof of the overall theory. The hysteria generated by an imperceptible temperature rise of 1.7 degrees Fahrenheit since 1880 -- as if the trend is bound to continue forever, or is not a product of natural variation, or cannot be mitigated except by drastic policy interventions. The hyping of flimsy studies -- melting Himalayan glaciers; vanishing polar ice -- to press the political point. The job security and air of self-importance this provides the tens of thousands of people -- EPA bureaucrats, wind-turbine manufacturers, litigious climate scientists, NGO gnomes -- whose livelihoods depend on a climate crisis. The belief that even if the crisis isn’t quite what it’s cracked up to be, it does us all good to be more mindful about the environment. And, of course, the chance to switch the subject. If your enemy is global jihad, then to defeat it you need military wherewithal, martial talents and political will. If your enemy is the structure of an energy-intensive global economy, then you need a compelling justification to change it. Climate dystopia can work wonders, provided the jihadists don’t interrupt too often. Obama entered office believing that Islamic terrorism was overrated, that by reaching out to the Moslem world and denigrating the West we’d mollify this movement and have nothing to fear. He repeated this nonsensical view <http://www.steynonline.com/7333/a-powerful-rebuke> in Paris [T]he President was sneering at scaredypants Republicans for being such bedwetters... Responding to the carnage in Paris, Barack Obama said that the most "powerful rebuke" you could send to the terrorists was to go ahead and hold the big climate conference as scheduled and show the killers that the world would not be deflected from talking about sea levels in the Maldives in the 22nd century. The following day, 14 Americans were slaughtered in a terrorist attack in San Bernardino. California. This is the third such attack on his watch: Ft. Hood, the Boston Marathon, and the San Bernardino slaughter. At Ft. Hood the psychiatrists who had worked with Nidal Hassan knew he was a crackpot and a fanatical Islamist but kept quiet for fear of crossing the racial profiling line and harming their careers if they spoke up. U.S. officials ignored repeated Russian warnings about the Tsarnaevs and the Boston police did a careless job of investigating the prior murder of an acquaintance of theirs and his two roommates, which would have resulted in their arrest before the Marathon bombings. In the latest incident, sloppy visa processing allowed in Tashfeen Malik, the second member of the team, who likely was recruited to seduce Syed into the fold. It was compounded by neighbors who noticed suspicious activity at the murderers’ home but feared reporting it lest they be accused of racial profiling. Malik was a Pakistani who’d been living in Saudi Arabia when she became the online fiancé of Syed Farook, a U.S.-born citizen of Pakistani immigrants. While in Pakistan she was a member of a mosque <http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3346618/ISIS-loyalist-woman-San-Bernardino-massacre-linked-Pakistan-s-notorious-radical-cleric-mosque-known-center-fundamentalists.html> headed by such a radical cleric the Pakistanis are considering closing down his mosque. She entered the U.S. on a K-1 visa and somehow passed the required DHS screening <https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CVVruLnVEAAeT0w.png:medium>. It has been reported that the one thing that could easily have been checked on that application -- her address -- must not have been, for the address of her Pakistani home is nonexistent. Afterwards she underwent a second screening <http://www.frontpagemag.com/point/261015/multi-layered-vetting-san-bernardino-muslim-daniel-greenfield#.VmIUr98ZCJI.facebook> for a green card: Farook applied for a permanent-resident green card for Malik within the legal 90-day limit, a federal official said. In July 2015, she was granted a conditional green card, for which, as a matter of procedure, the couple had to prove that their marriage was legitimate. Additionally, Malik had to pass criminal and national-security background checks. Feeling better about the admission of thousands of “refugees” from Syria about whom we have even less ability to do background checks? I’m not. The FBI is treating this as a terrorist investigation but thus far the reports seem to indicate these were a self-radicalized couple, not acting as part of a group. There is no small amount of publicly reported evidence to indicate otherwise. The FBI found a veritable armory of weaponry <http://http/www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-san-bernardino-shooting-main-20151203-story.html> in their possession, including 3 pipe bombs at the crime site and 12 more 2,000 9-millimeter handgun rounds, 2,500 .223 caliber assault rifle rounds “hundreds of tools” that could have been used to make additional explosive devices”. Syed had traveled to Saudi Arabia to meet his intended bride. While Farook had a well-paying civil service job as a health inspector, was it sufficient to cover all these expenses? If not, who bankrolled him? There was a bank account showing a $64,000 balance in his account, ,almost equal to a year's salary for him. Reports are that someone legally bought the expensive rifles they used and transferred them to the couple. Who was this? Why did he think they wanted them? How was it that his mother, who lived in the apartment above them, and his brother who lived nearby never noticed what they were up to? Who were the Middle Eastern men who visited so often with them that the neighbors grew suspicious? Reporters were inexplicably allowed into their apartment to handle and disturb what had been left there. When questioned, the FBI said they’d already removed all the relevant materials from there though local law enforcement officials were surprised and said their work wasn’t finished. No sign of fingerprint powder <http://conservativevideos.com/the-first-thing-retired-nypd-detective-noticed-as-he-watched-media-ransack-home-of-san-bernardino-terrorists-home/> could be seen in the apartment so it may be hard to determine who their mysterious acquaintances were, although the couple was in contact <http://hotair.com/archives/2015/12/03/radicalized-sources-tell-cnn-that-farook-was-in-touch-with-more-than-one-international-terror-suspect/>with known international terrorist suspects. The day before they went on their murder spree, the couple erased their online social media accounts, but investigators believe the wife pledged allegiance to the leader of ISIS <http://www.mediaite.com/online/breaking-investigators-believe-female-san-bernardino-shooter-swore-isis-allegiance/> just before attack. A witness said they had a GoPro camera and a box for one was found in their apartment. None was found on their bodies. There was a three-hour delay between their attack and the shootout with law enforcement. Did they pass on the camera and their film to cohorts then? And how is it that so soon after the incident Farook’s brother was the centerpiece of a CAIR presser throwing sand in our eyes. Did DHS tip them off? Muzammil Siddiqui was a featured speaker at the presser. In case you don’t remember who he is, Breitbart reminds us <http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/12/03/speaker-cair-presser-shooting-said-suicide-bombers-die-justice/>: “America has to learn — if you remain on the side of injustice, the wrath of God will come!” Siddiqui said at a White House protest against Israel in 2000. Siddiqi also reportedly praised suicide bombers, as reported by the Kansas City Star. “Those who die on the part of justice are alive, and their place is with the Lord, and they receive the highest position, because this is the highest honor,” Siddiqui said in a 1995 speech. Siddiqi also counted suspected al Qaeda operative Adam Yahiye Gadahn as a parishioner at the Islamic Society of Orange County, though Siddiqi eventually kicked Gadahn out of the mosque. Siddiqi defended jihad in an interview with The New Yorker magazine in a 2007 article about Gadahn. The administration and the Euro *bien pensants* are on track insisting that Israel must cede more to the Palestinians if there’s to be peace. They do so even as evidence has now been revealed that the Israeli athletes in Munich were brutally tortured <http://legalinsurrection.com/2015/12/just-revealed-palestinian-terrorists-castrated-israeli-hostage-at-munich-olympics/> -- one even castrated -- before being murdered, an act of terrorism underwritten by Abu Mazan, now president of the Palestinian Authority. The rush to buy guns in San Bernardino and elsewhere reflects, I think, America’s recognition that our safety is in the hands of incompetent ideologues. Although it seems obvious that the only harm to Moslems in the U.S. whom most of us recognize are blameless is from overconsumption of tuna casseroles brought by well-meaning Christian women’s societies or too many hugs from well-wishers running to mosques to show their good will. Obama used the moment to name a Hamas sympathizer <https://pjmedia.com/trending/2015/12/3/obama-names-hamas-sympathizer-as-new-isis-czar> as ISIS czar even as Hamas leaders met with the ISIS commander in Gaza <http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2015/dec/4/l-todd-wood-isis-commander-meets-hamas-gaza/> . In keeping with the weird notion of Moslems as victims of backward Americans, his attorney general announced that Moslem parents should report to the FBI or Department of education any bullying of their children. (This right after the clock boy farce and while Christians and Jews are being slaughtered throughout the Middle East by Moslems!) She stood by FBI head Comey’s side during the presser where he stated that the attack investigation was focusing on terrorism. Doubtless to make sure he didn’t tell too much of the truth, for that would bring expose the administration’s narratives as fairy tales. It’s been reported that they don’t trust Comey <http://dcwhispers.com/breaking-white-house-vs-fbi-over-domestic-isis-terror-threat/> to follow the party line. Maybe if administration flunkies search through YouTube hard enough they can find another video to blame it all on so they can defuse any outbreak of honesty by the FBI head.
