John McCain in 2008, she had her words spun by comedian Tina Fey so effectively that many Americans believe the Alaskan said she could see Russia from her house. Palin’s words were, in fact: “you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska.” But, as so often happens, it was the liberal spin on the former governor’s words that provided the recipe for ridicule. Now comes Rep. Nancy Pelosi and an interview on CNN that leaves many wondering if “Saturday Night Live” will do a similar number on Nancy — taking what the California congresswoman said and turning it into a fun-poking skit. While she was talking about the capture and detention of 10 U.S. Navy sailors by Iran, the former speaker of the house said she had “been to Bahrain and looked right across the Persian Gulf to Iran. Everything is very close there.” As The Daily Caller <http://dailycaller.com/2016/01/14/pelosi-says-she-could-see-iran-from-bahrain-150-miles-away-video/> explains, that’s an incredibly bizarre statement considering that it is simply not possible to see Iran from Bahrain. The Caller explains that “the horizon is 2.9 miles away from a person standing on the ground” and even when a person is elevated 100 feet, “the horizon appears at a distance of 12.2 miles.” Either Pelosi is confused or she’s lying, but unless she has superpowers, she didn’t see what she said she saw.
