*Hold On To Your Hats…Obama Just Sounded Off On The ‘White Oscars’: ‘It Makes Everybody…’*

He is, after all, an expert on movie-making and artful cinematic performance, apparently. During an interview with KABC <http://abc7.com/news/obama-discusses-oscar-diversity-for-1st-time-in-abc7-exclusive/1176539/>on Wednesday, President Obama put himself firmly on the side of the “Rev.” Al Sharpton, progressive activists and race-obsessed Hollywood luminaries behind the protests, loosely organized under the #OscarsSoWhite hashtag campaign. “Diversity” Obama claimed, “makes for better art.” “I think that California is an example of the incredible diversity of this country. That’s a strength,” Obama insisted. “I think that when everybody’s story is told, then that makes for better art, it makes for better entertainment, it makes everybody feel part of one American family. Advertisement *Trending Stories* “As a whole, the industry should do what every other industry should do, which is to look for talent, and provide opportunity to everybody,” Obama added. “I think the Oscar debate is really just an expression of this broader issue of, ‘are we making sure that everybody is getting a fair shot?'” Normal people might think good stories, compelling characters and excellent acting make for “better entertainment” than “diversity” for diversity’s sake, which strikes many as a call for quotas in the recognition of outstanding movie performances. Obama isn’t alone in addressing the Oscars controversy, of course. Recently entertainment gossip site TMZ asked legendary film tough guy Clint Eastwood what he thinks of the whole mess.
