If you choose to read it you may be placed on a watch list. I am on a flight from the West Coast to New York City, writing at 35,000 feet in the sky. I have been passing the time on a 4.5-hour flight reading John W. Whitehead’s book *Battlefield America <http://www.amazon.com/dp/1590793099/ref=as_sl_pc_tf_lc?tag=lewrockwell&camp=213381&creative=390973&linkCode=as4&creativeASIN=1590793099&adid=1D2WEKR50A1GKW68XR4E&&ref-refURL=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.lewrockwell.com%2F%3Fpost_type%3Darticle%26p%3D580038%26preview%3Dtrue%26n_preview_id%3D580038%26preview_nonce%3D8c915a3bad>*. Maybe here at this high altitude, the keystrokes on my laptop computer cannot be monitored by the National Security Agency. I am only synopsizing part of Whitehead’s book because you, like me, are likely to be so distracted you have little time to read its entire text. However, you should really purchase a copy of this book if for nothing else but to hide it in your attic before all remembrance of freedom and liberty in the U.S. has vanished. You, like me, have been lulled into the complacency of illusory democracy, of reveling over historical but not present freedoms. You can’t imagine your right to bear arms, your right to free speech, the checks, and balances of three branches of government, the role the news media plays in making government accountable as the “fourth estate,” have been drastically diminished, all by something called fascism. Buy all the guns you want. Americans are. But if you intend to physically protect your home in self-defense from unconstitutional invasion by government agents, it will now be equivalent to holding a squirt gun up against a heavily armed SWAT team at your front doorstep, with silent black helicopters hovering overhead, with the firepower and technology to block all outside communication, cut off electricity and water, suffocate you with smoke bombs, and pulverize your body with bullets shot from a robot if it even looks like you are reaching for a weapon to defend yourself. The American public cannot liken the fascism practiced by Mussolini and Hitler in WWII to that of modern American presidents like Bush and Obama. Why this is America, the land of the free! Americans abhor any likenesses of its current politicians to that of Hitler and the jack-boot Gestapo. Yet Hitler had his concentration camps and gas chambers and the past two American presidents had their Guantanamo and water boarding. The vacant barbed-wire detention camps spotted across America don’t need to be filled to serve as a deterrent to any group that suggests opposition to the current regime. *Is opposition to taxes un-American?* It was film producer Aaron Russo (deceased) who took to the streets and asked passersby if they knew of any law that mandates they must pay taxes. While none could recall or cite a law, most responders felt there need not be any law as it should be our civic duty to pay taxes. Forget that the Boston Tea Party (the dumping of tea in Boston harbor) was a protest over taxes. It is also ironic that while many Americans consider payment of taxes a civic duty, we live in an era when 45% of Americans don’t pay any income taxes. [CBS Marketwatch <http://www.marketwatch.com/story/45-of-americans-pay-no-federal-income-tax-2016-02-24> ] In 2010, I wrote about creationist Kent Hovind who was sent to jail for 10 years for not paying his taxes. [LewRockwell.com <https://www.lewrockwell.com/2010/01/bill-sardi/its-illegal-not-to-be-a-government-victim/>] Well that was the reported charge. It was actually his employees’ taxes – FICA payments for Medicare and Social Security. But after a raid on his home and offices at gunpoint and confiscation of money, it later became apparent in the courtroom that his employees had paid their own taxes as they were obligated to do if their employer didn’t. The government’s case collapsed so the IRS, federal prosecutors, and a federal judge had to come up with a new charge, that of “structuring” – making bank deposits under the $10,000 reporting limit to hide money from the government. A decade later the IRS admits its structuring convictions were mistaken and it was revealed that Lois Lerner, whose signature was all over court documents in the Hovind case in Florida, had targeted conservative groups like Hovind’s Creation Science Evangelism. A largely southern Christian jury was misled, fed the scriptural line of “rendering unto Caesar what is Caesar’s” that mandates Christians pay taxes. Hovind and 200-plus other victims of a bad law have yet to be compensated and IRS agents have yet to be penalized for the egregious crime of confiscation. *Fascism: when industry buys off government* We as Americans cannot see the Affordable Care Act as a fascist sell-out to American health insurance companies. We must now, by law, purchase health insurance when we are young and healthy with little chance we will need to utilize health care except for rare emergencies and common coughs and colds which we will pay for out of our own pockets anyway due to high deductibles. Government crafted a law to cater to the insurance industry that could not sell insurance to those who could afford it but chose not to buy it. And the young must also incur paycheck deductions for future medical care (Medicare) in their retirement years. The whole scheme was covered over by a giant public giveaway in the expansion of health services to the poorer masses via MediCaid to reduce the ranks of the uninsured. The U.S. did this with borrowed money that further increased the national debt. There are still 33 million Americans who are uninsured. The insurance companies largely made their money on management fees for new Medicaid enrollees. While the current administration takes credit for reducing the number of uninsured, it was Ronald Reagan who once said: “We should measure welfare’s success by how many people leave welfare, not by how many are added.” [HotAir.com <http://hotair.com/archives/2015/10/21/ninety-seven-percent-of-obamacares-newly-insured-are-from-medicaid-expansion/> ] Whitehead quotes Adolph Hitler to say: “Private enterprise cannot be maintained in a democracy. A business magnate of the time was quoted to say: “We hired Hitler.” Fascism is when industry buys off government who then crafts laws that mandate the use of products and services rather than industry having to incur the cost of advertising and marketing. Think mandatory vaccination in public schools as an example. *Just not incarcerated* Towards the end of Whitehead’s book he quotes Aldous Huxley who said: “It is perfectly possible for a man to be out of prison and yet not free – to be under no physical constraint and yet be a psychological captive, compelled to think and feel and act as the representatives of a national state or of some private interest within the nation wants him to think, feel and act. To him the walls of his prison are invisible and he believes himself to be free.” Yes, we are all slaves living in America today. How do you beat the bully state? Whitehead offers ten principles upon which to restore freedom in America. 1. The present system does not foster freedom. 2. Voting is practically worthless. 3. Question everything 4. Materialism is the death knell of freedom. 5. There is little hope for any true resistance if you are mindlessly connected to the electronic concentration camp. 6. Armed revolt will not work. (Think of those protestors who stood up to the Bureau of Land Management in Oregon.) 7. Be wise and realize there is power in numbers. 8. Act locally but think nationally. 9. Local towns, cities, and states can say no. 10. Who were the first people to realize the value of freedom? The slaves. You may put yourself on a watch list by reading this article or by buying a copy of Whitehead’s book. But if you buy 12 copies and spread them throughout your community, and donate a copy to your library, those actions may be beyond the state’s watchful eye. Once you realize you are a slave to the state that is now controlled by oligarchs that have taken control of the country, a government that has literally handed the financial classes most of the wealth in the country via the nation’s central bank, you may begin to realize you have no choice but to fight for freedom. Don’t reach for your squirt guns. Start by controlling your city council. Dismantle militarization of your police force. Think secession at the State level. And watch for infiltration by government monitors. Imagine if the British in the 1700s bought off the colonists, promised them free health care, food, homes and child care. Would the colonists have had the muster to oppose the British? That is what the American state is doing today. How can America have limited government when its masses rely on the government for their very survival? The government no longer exists to serve the people. The people exist to serve the government. Pay homage to the god of government or else. And it’s a false god because it is funded by debt, debt that can never be repaid. The next generation will not pay that debt, it will be repudiated says Gary North. That means a day of reckoning lies ahead. The largesse of America’s military, the pensions paid from the social security trust fund, the Medicare payments for retirees is all funded by debt. The greatness of America as having a Gross Domestic Product of $16.77 trillion is a false prop. Appease the masses, expand their indebtedness and hide the negative numbers. Haven’t you ever wondered how the American news media, on election night, already knows the outcome of most elections before the polls are closed? They call it the predicted outcome. The purpose of the TV reporting is to give Americans the false illusion voting matters.
