Hi, I have not heard Trump's view on Social Security so I went to the link to check out his views. There were no views listed there just a petition form to sign. Would like to know his thoughts as I believe the Democrats are the one's who have ruined the program. First thing they did was take the money out of secure trust account to be only used for social security and took those funds under LBJ put them in the General Fund and he then used them to pay for the Viet Nam War. Check out the history and you will see I am correct on that.It was a huge debate at the time as to whether or not remove all that money being collected since FDR was President from the Trust Fund and make it available for any use in the General fund and the Democrats with big majority after LBJ"s election won that one and the rest is history. Now once those Social Security taxes are about a total of 15% of your earnings with both you and the employer "contributing" and that made for the time a much better looking revenue pool of funds available for LBJ and the other Presidents subsequently to budget that money as they saw fit. Most recent changes in Demographics and lots of unemployment some say is truly about 20% to 25% of working age people has really hurt the funding for SS. Also, look at those high paying manufacturing jobs that America has lost because of NAFTA, another Democratic program that encouraged business to leave the country and we took another hit on SS. Now, those high paying mfg. jobs have been replaced with low wage tourist and travel jobs whose pay hover around minium wage another hit to SS. .....and the latest hit a few years back occurred when Obama, unilaterally with out congressional approval loosened the disability requirements to receive SS. What was occurring was Unemployment benefits that had been extended and extended and extended finally ran out for folks, they began applying for SS Disability as if unemployment was a "disease" then these people and all their advocates started pressuring the government to loosen standards so these people would have some money coming into their house hold.
