In Wake of Terror Attack, Obama Rushes to Empty Guantanamo · 06/28/2016 · Source: AAN · by: AAN Staff In the wake of terror attacks in Paris, San Bernardino, and Orlando, the Obama administration is pushing forward with what appears to be its top priority: emptying Guantanamo Bay of Islamic terrorists. Yes, really. As the Daily Caller notes: <http://dailycaller.com/2016/06/28/obama-administration-ramping-up-review-boards-for-guantanamo-detainees/> In the waning months of the Obama presidency, the administration is shifting its strategy to shaving down Guantanamo’s prison population to numbers so low that maintaining the camp would be fiscally unjustifiable for Congress. At a press briefing in February, the president said that Guantanamo “drains military resources, with nearly $450 million spent last year alone to keep it running and more than $200 million in additional costs needed to keep it open going forward.” The review boards now take place every Tuesday and Thursday to expedite the president’s goal of emptying out the camp. Members of the interagency panel come from the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Justice, Department of State, Joint Staff, and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. To Barack Obama, nothing is more important than the approval of the liberal chattering classes. Notably, Hillary Clinton has promised to expand upon and continue the policies of the Obama administration. As long as one of them is president, Americans will not be safe.
