I have a brother who lives in Phoenix. Years ago he said the people didn't like him because he cost them so much money defending all of these suits (and in some judgments).
I don't talk politics with this particular brother very often, so didn't go into whether or not they were baseless bs suits (which many are when it comes to the feds harassing any city, state, police force, fire house, school, etc.). But that was several years ago, so this has been going on for some time. I'm also surprised that in Maricopa County with so many people and so many Hispanics, that it's surprising that he keeps winning elections. You'd think that like most big cities it's mostly welfare recipients voting for democrats. And especially in light of the high number of Hispanics; it's shocking to me that he's managed to stay in office this long (20+ years) with his zero tolerance policies - which I happen to agree with. And I just looked him up, and he's now 84. Wow, I'd be retiring.
