Pundits are assuming that this will benefit Hillary as Johnson has been pulling more from Hillary/dems than Trump/republicans. But if you think about it, the lefties who are supporting him are mostly far lefties who oppose Clinton's warmongering past or are the "Sandernistas" who are totally against her (for beating their hero) and they are pacifists who oppose any military involvement anywhere. Neither of these people give a shit whether or not Gary Johnson knows what Aleppo is - because they don't know what it is either. That leaves only the diehard Libertarians who will stay with him and also don't care whether he knows that Aleppo is the epicenter of the crisis in Syria, and also the "never-Trumpers" (republicans) who decided to support Johnson as an anti-Trump protest vote. What they will do is hard to tell, but I think most will either vote for Trump or not vote at all, as the majority also detest Hillary Clinton.
