My kids are both in their 20s and were asking this while home at Christmas! I told them what I've said all along...that the only way I know of is to read both sides of a story and to use common sense to determine which one is closest to being accurate. But you really do have to research some topics where the two sides are on completely opposite sides of something.
I use realclearpolitics to get stories from multiple sides of issues. But I don't think we will ever return to the days when journalists act like honest journalists that are tasked with reporting FACTS.
