Good Morning Mark! You Sir, are correct, and by no means am I taking away from your point, I agree whole heartedly and I see the hypocrisy!
Having said that, I also see a lot of humor in this whole debacle; (and as a side note, this was probably the only "Act" that Johnnie Reno did as AG that I actually agreed with at the time; I couldn't stand her; and will never forget how she condoned if not ordered the murder of the Branch Davidians in Waco Texas; but I digress...) I had just moved back toTampa, after residing in the Carolinas for the previous 17 years; (back in 1998). Of course this was the topic at the time, but especially so here in Florida as "Little Elian" and his extended family were in Miama. I will never forget being in a restaurant here in Tampa, (and a Cuban restaurant at that! I'm still very fond of "Florida Food"; and back when I first moved home I couldn't get enough of it, so I frequented a number of Cuban establishments! Still do really...) No matter, there was a table of fat Cuban women sitting behind me, talking about the "Little Elian" situation; and again, as a side note, the Cuban Community was very much in favor of Little Elian being allowed to stay in Miama and the federal government blowing it's nose on Uncle Fidel! There was a bunch of anger, and crying and even laughter mixed in English, Spanglish and Cuban Spanish, but one of the fat women claimed, "Ohhhh; De Little Elian, He Is Like De Baby Jesus!" to which the remainder of the fat Cuban women all agreed and immediately adopted. Funny Time! Of course I laughed, and my new fat Cuban Lady friends were not all that amused....
