This past year, during the campaign, I noticed that there are a lot of people that I know that I've never discussed politics with who were more than willing to jump right in and discuss politics. And almost all of these acquaintances were people who'd voted for democrats for years who either weren't voting for anyone or were voting for Trump to see that the democrats lost.
I was astonished at how many people were suddenly willing to discuss politics - people of ALL ages. And this included extended/distant family members that I've known my entire life and never had a political conversation with. Come to find out, my amazingly sharp 83-year old aunt was a Trump voter, and I have cousins that I'd long assumed were democrats that were also Trump voters. Your grandfathers would have probably been like so many I saw who finally abandoned the lunatic left.
