Good conversation, but I would add one more observation here. I remember not too long ago; it was sometime in early 2016, (maybe February or March, 2016) where an obviously confused, Secular Progressive Mama decided that her five, going on six year old son had decided that he was really a little girl and started treating him accordingly. Mama went to the school demanding I don't remember what all, but in general that her son be treated now as a little girl.
I am a staunch believer in parental rights. During law school and even shortly thereafter I was working with the Florida Department of Children and Families, and with court appointed attorneys, who were representing parents whose parental rights were about to be, or were already terminated. I developed a strong motivation to keep the State of Florida out of familial issues, most especially with families who didn't live on the best side of town; or were not capable of lavishing a lot of luxurious material items on their kids. Having said that, these types of cases is where I believe the State should be very intrusively involved in protecting the child's rights from batshit crazy Moonbats who are attempting to make a political statement.
