Good for you. How many years ago was that. I'm sure that house did not look as it does now.
Now, is there any way you can understand that your experience is not every person's experience, especially if you grow up in a blighted urban neighborhood? One size does not fit all. Myself, I grew up in the county (read redneck) in East Tennessee. I did not know we were poor until high school when kids can get pretty cruel about things like that. But I certainly "knew" that we were higher on the social ladder and "better" than the kids with dark skins. Even us poor white trash looked down on them. I bet you were raised the same way.
