What took them so long? CNN fires Reza Aslan after he called Trump a “piece
of s**t”

In the aftermath of the London jihad massacre, as I detailed in my PJ Media
column this week
<https://pjmedia.com/homeland-security/2017/06/08/cnns-aslan-fires-expletives-at-trump-but-not-the-jihadis/>,
the hitherto untouchable Leftist media darling Reza Aslan was fulminating
hysterically not at the jihadis, but at President Trump. And so CNN, which
never should have hired this arrogant and vacuous
<https://www.jihadwatch.org/2017/03/reza-aslan-eats-human-brains-but-its-unlikely-to-help>
Islamic supremacist in the first place, has finally fired him.

What took them so long? That this sinister jihad enabler was ever given a
mainstream platform is a dispiriting sign of the times. His show on CNN was
devoted
<https://www.jihadwatch.org/2017/03/reza-aslans-agenda-showing-hinduism-and-christianity-as-violent-islam-as-peaceful>
to showing other religions as violent and hateful, and Islam as benign and
peaceful. Its agenda was obviously insidious. Aslan is a Board member
<http://www.niacouncil.org/site/PageServer?pagename=About_staff_board> of
the National Iranian American Council (NIAC). NIAC has been established in
court as a lobbying group for the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Michael Rubin
<http://www.commentarymagazine.com/2013/02/08/is-niac-the-iran-lobby/>:
“Jamal Abdi, NIAC’s policy director, now appears to push aside any pretense
that NIAC is something other than Iran’s lobby. Speaking at the
forthcoming ‘Expose
AIPAC’ conference
<http://www.ifpb.org/education/grassroots/2013/schedule.html>, Abdi is
featured on the ‘Training: Constituent Lobbying for Iran’ panel. Oops.”
Iranian freedom activist Hassan Daioleslam
<http://frontpagemag.com/2013/samnunberg/a-response-to-niacs-deceitful-fundraising-letter/>
“documented over a two-year period that NIAC is a front group lobbying on
behalf of the Iranian regime.” NIAC had to pay him nearly $200,000 in legal
fees <http://freebeacon.com/sanctioning-irans-american-allies/> after they
sued him for defamation over his accusation that they were a front group
for the mullahs, and lost. Yet Aslan remains on their Board.

Meanwhile, despite his increasingly obvious Islamic heterodoxy
<https://www.jihadwatch.org/2017/02/reza-aslan-why-he-is-not-a-muslim>,
Aslan remains popular with Muslim Brotherhood-linked groups in the U.S.: he
has also spoken

at events sponsored by the Muslim Students Association, a Brotherhood
group, as well as at an at an event

co-sponsored by the Los Angeles chapter of the Hamas-linked Council on
American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). Doubtless they recognize that he shares
their overall agenda.

“CNN drops ‘Believer’ host Reza Aslan days after he called Donald Trump a
‘piece of s***’ for his response to the London Bridge terror attacks,” by

June 9, 2017:

CNN has dropped host Reza Aslan days after he called President Donald Trump
a ‘piece of s***’ on Twitter.

‘CNN has decided to not move forward with production on the acquired series
“Believer with Reza Aslan,”‘ the network said in a statement. ‘We wish Reza
and his production team all the best.’

Aslan issued an apology on Sunday after he slammed Trump on Twitter for
emphasizing the need for his travel ban in the wake of the London Bridge
attacks.

Aslan called Trump a ‘piece of s***’ after the president responded to the
London Bridge attacks by tweeting: ‘We need to be smart, vigilant and
tough. We need the courts to give us back our rights. We need the Travel
Ban as an extra level of safety!’

On Sunday afternoon, the author and religious scholar apologized, tweeting:
‘I should not have used a profanity to describe the President when
responding to his shocking reaction to the London Attacks.’

He also attached his full statement, which read: ‘When in the first few
minutes of the terror attack in London, the President of the United States
tweeted about his travel ban, I lost my cool and responded to him in a
derogatory fashion.

‘That’s not like me. I should have used better language to express my shock
and frustration at the president’s lack of decorum and sympathy for the
victims of London. I apologize for my choice of words.’…
