Actually, no.  I have never bought a gift card for anyone and I have never
recieved one either. Kroger ran a special on gift cards in connection with
the gov'ts "refund" earlier this year. A $300 card got you an extra $30.  My
brother and I bought each other 4 $300 cards. As we were in the same store
doing this together I would not call this "giving" or "recieving".  Just
smart money managment.
