I wasn't refering to anything about Rather. I was refering to the irony of Murdoch talking about the stupidity of readers and the other stuff.
Also though the story Rather did had some serious errors, there are a lot of facts that back up the general ideas behind the story. Bush did not report for duty for well over a year, but the right wing nuts still refuse to discuss that or investigate the details. Rather went about the story worng, but he was fed the details by his producer. I have worked in the media as a producer for a long time, and I know for a fact that the anchors of any major news service, with very few exceptions, do not write the stories or gather the facts used in them. They just report what is given to them and hope that the researchers and producers have done their jobs right.
