Do you really need to be told? If you don't have the cash, you can't afford it. If you do need a mortgage, first save up at least ten percent of the purchase price, and make sure that your payments are no more than 25% of your monthly income. And keep at least 10 % of your income as savings (investments). If you can't afford the new car, or the new frig, then wait until you can. At the national level, if the government were required to live within its means, it would mean billions in spending cuts. Another program that would help would be to give preference to those businesses that are within a hundred miles of your own home, as the products they build provide jobs for your neighbours. And get in the habit of not taking sides in other peoples disputes. When two or more people are fighting, getting involved may stop the battle, by getting both sides annoyed,,, with you. Now isn't that the kind of stuff they taught in kindergarden.
