Moonbatty Congresskook Jim McDermott (D-WA) is calling for the
government to effectively take over dying liberal newspapers, so that
they can be kept alive even if we know better than to read them. From
a guest editorial he contributed to the Seattle PI, a floundering
leftist rag that supports him:
I have been told that the Independent and Guardian newspapers in
the United Kingdom (great papers, by the way, that I have my staff
read and clip for me every day) both operate on a nonprofit business
model. I've also heard that at least one major newspaper in the U.S.
does something similar. It could mean that the tax code might have a
direct bearing on developing a new business model for the newspaper
business nationwide.
As a senior member of House Ways and Means Committee, which has
jurisdiction over the U.S. tax code, I intend to find out.
Essentially, Baghdad Jim wants to use the tax code to nationalize
newspapers. Then they will be as fair and balanced as Britain's ultra-
left Guardian — or they'll have to start paying taxes again.
If you think newspapers do nothing but spin propaganda on behalf of
the liberal establishment now, wait until Dem bureaucrats take direct
charge of them.
