Let me give you a little history to ponder... When Wall Street first came in existence and people bought shares of companies in hopes they would grow and give a return on their money. Following me so far?...it won't take long. Since there was no regulation, other people set up shop outside Wall Street and took bets on whether a company would do well or not. Thus if you placed a bet that a company stock price would or wouldn't go up or down...you might win your bet and make money. This betting process proved more popular than actually buying any stocks. And the gamblers accepting bets made more money than the stock market did! Upon seeing what was happening, Wall Street *asked the federal government to step in* and close the outside gambling down, as it did nothing to create legitimate wealth through companies working hard and accepting investments. So you may say "Wall Street is what it is"...but it only exists because the federal government says it can. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Thanks for being part of "PoliticalForum" at Google Groups.
