Sorry, your premise is flawed. If Obama does close Gitmo it will be
seen as defacto proof that our government thinks it violated US and
international law. It would open the gate wide for Geneva based suits
against the Commander in Chief et al that ordered its opening and
publicly defended it.

It must remain if only for politically expedience. Obamas first real
chip in the Washington two step contest.

No one with half a brain can possibly feel that Gitmo, its' methods
and the rendition policy that was required to get people there was
legal on any level.
