Rush is laughing all the way to the bank. His listeners are
increasing rapidly. That translates to more ad revenue for his
show, higher sales for his books, and larger fees for his speeches on
the rubber chicken circuit. Don't be surprised if he hustles out a new
(ghostwritten) book.

IMO he is quite good at debunking liberal myth, and is effective
because he gets his facts right and is far brighter than any of his
interlocutors.

But IMO he has little influence on conservative thought or Republican
candidates in 2010 or 2012. The Heritage Foundation is a good source
of Republican Doctrine. And Newt Gingrich is by far the best,
brightest, most completely educated potential candidate in sight, and
a bona fide PhD in history to boot.

He has done this before--As Speaker of the House and author of the
"Contract With America" I am on his list, and he is working hard
preparing for the off year elections right now--with an eye towards
2012 of course.

Bottom line--I think of Rush as a showman--a media creature, and not
much more. So far.
