I have an annuled marriage by the RCC but that doesn't over-ride civil marriage laws- it simply allows you regain your status in the RCC. I was also one of three witnesses for another woman's RCC annulment which I thought had no merit- while mine did- but it wiggled through and her next marriage was more alarming in outcome. The fact is these are Canon Laws and subject to internal politics of the RCC.
