To help keep me busy while I quit smoking I am planting a vegetable garden. The soil here is adobe clay. I am soaking the soil then rototilling the soil before I till in organic topsoil. With the adobe clay soil I was thinking I'd go to a bait shop and get 5-6 dozen night crawlers and turn them loose in the garden to start a colony. Will they be effective in keeping the soil from clumping up, and keeping the soil fertile along with the drip irrigation I will be installing?
