Either you do not know many Conservatives or the Conservatives you do know are stereotyped or placed in situations where stereotyping a Conservative (in the way you describe) is a mandatory outcome -- "Why are you opposed to Gay marriage?" or "Why shouldn't a woman control her body even if it means killing a 8 month fetus?"...
And yes, they would say morality should be based on a Christocentric Religion (ask most Muslims and they would say based of Islamic principles)... But do you comprehend what that means??? The Christian Conservatives I know are not the one dimensional moralists that you see.. To them morality is a requisite part of ALL of lifes twists and turns... You know, like adopting kids not your relatives late in life to help the suffering of a dying mother who changed too late to help her own kids... Or like visiting olf folks in nursing home who are NOT their relatives... Or kids giving their Christmas present money to other kids who otherwise would have no Christmas... The list here is endless Hollywood... My point?? There are many, many Conservative who dedicate themselves to helping others in their own small ways OUT of the limelight... To think otherwise is have a bigoted and wrongful opinion... I can say the same for many Liberals as well, who foolish Conservatives think of in similar bigoted Stereotypes...
