On the economy:
Eliot Spitzer; "no one predicted this cataclysm..."

BS, there most certainly were people who predicted it.

On the bailout:
Eliot Spitzer; "...break them (the financial institutions) up..."

How would that solve anything?
The small institutions would just merge again later to form
the "too big to fail" institutions they previously were.
So the goals would still be the same:
maximize profits so that we may acquire other financial
institutions so "we're too big to fail" again.

On the stimulus bill:
Eliot Spitzer; "...take a huge sum of money, go to the auto
industry...
say to them we (the government) will buy 500,000 electric cars from
you if you give us the right product.
Then take some money and build charging stations along the interstate
highway."

The problem here is that electric cars require about 12 hours to
recharge.
So I hope all those government officials have a nice hotel next door
to sleep
while recharging their government car.
Not that they were doing anything important anyway.

The problem is this;
the American people are being hornswoggled by both political parties
for purely political reasons, or out of pure ignorance by not having
the
proper experts consult them.
