Look, America and Europe HAVE different outlooks because of history in spite of common heritage... Europe in the 19th century created totalitarianism, and in the 20th century acted on it... The US skipped that part of European history.. The European Civil War (WWI & WWII) was a different crucible to Europe than to America... The Left (in this country and in Europe) seeks to apply lessons Europe was required to learn post WWII and Colonial times to America whose situation WAS NOT APPLICABLE to those lesson learned...
Now America does have a lesson to teach the world, one which will be difficult for her to learn... A Utopian Materialistic society is not adaptable to all in a world of limited resources... This lesson will also be hard to swallow in China, India, South America, and Africa... Until you can discern that America is different, and SHOULD BE different than Europe, seeking to judge America by European faults is silly and stupid... I see Doc that you descend into typical uncivil discussion by wishing death on your political opponents... I do agree with Obama in that both sides needs to raise the level of debate and REMOVE the demonization of one's opponent... You would do well to follow his advice...
