The unemployment numbers for May were released on June 5th. More than 345,000 Americans lost their jobs last month, bringing the total of jobless Americans to 14.5 million. Unemployment rocketed to 9.4% (the highest since August, 1983).
Since December 2007, more than 6 million Americans have lost their job, while the federal government has imported more than 2.5 million foreign workers. The manufacturing and construction industries were the hardest hit with 156,000 jobs cut in manufacturing and 59,000 cut in construction. Service industries cut 120,000 jobs, including 18,000 in retail. It is time for President Obama to work with Congress to reduce or suspend most immigration.
