Hey Sage and Philo!! I have not read Jonah Goldberg's book who is making the general charge that Fascism in Germany, Spain and Italy during the 1930s was a far left ideology. I have read different reviews of Goldberg's book, and want to get a moment to try and read his book, but I think I understand his train of thought, and I am not sure that I can totally agree.
Goldberg apparently acknowledges that the Facsist ideology differed, and differed farily distinctly between Germany, especially as compared to how Facism was perceived in Italy and Spain. Clearly, Germans, (and to a lessor degree Italy and Spain) had absolutely no use for Communists. This plank of facsism cannot be considered "far left". On the other hand, the literal propping up of, and then the outright management-takeover of free enterprise corporations in Germany, Italy and Spain, as well as their socialist hegemony sure resembles the Democrat Party of the New Millenium here in the United States!
