Church today was great. Our pastor is very good at reminding of things we know but often forget or don't actively think about. Today she talked about Living a Postive Life. Great stuff! One of the things she suggested was to make a list of the most negative people or influences in our lives and do what we can, to minimize their impact or get rid of them altogether. The Google Political groups came on my list. All of our friends are very positive. No one ever insults anyone (at least not other than in jest). We have pretty happy lives. I came here thinking I would learn some things, make a few online friends and gain perspective from people of differing views. There are probably 3 or 4 people who have provided exactly that kind of exchange. Thank you. But really, this is a place filled with angry negative people who never admit they're wrong or that someone else could possibly know more on a subject than they do. People who insult strangers and entire segments of the population. People who openly celebrate the murder of other Americans, if those Americans somehow differ in their beliefs etc... There are people who even if you agree with them on an issue posted, are so petty and hold such grudges, they will FIND something to criticize anyway. That takes no talent. Only the smallest of character. Some of you might find it funny that on the other board, there are these guys called Bezerk and Rebel who call me a "Right Wingnut". Apparently my views on Christianity, the need for a strong military & intel, getting rid of unions etc... have them convinced I'm as far to the right as Rush! It doesn't matter that I also agree with them on some issues, like government healthcare for instance. Disagree on anything and you're the enemy! LOL We have people like that here but they're all on the OTHER side. So Dick Thompson, Travis and even VT or the Annointed One have given me things to ponder. Your civil and well stated posts and replies have actually changed my views on things like legalizing pot (which I USED to be against before coming to these groups) or whether questioning Obama's birthplace is stupid (why not look into it? It's their money so let 'em spend it and let's see what they find out). Thanks. I'll peek back once in a while to see what those who have somethign worthwhile to contribute on subjects, might have to say. But the rest are obviously not here to connect with others and learn new things. Te everyone here (yes everyone!), I wish you the very best.
