There is no way to verify anything except through direct experience.
As an example:
I just read that The Wall Street Journal (Rupert Murdochs baby),
printed a story about Afghanistan, saying that the top general said
we're losing to the Taliban in Afghanistan.
Then I heard on TV that the general didn't say that at all.

Short of seeing the general on TV myself so I could hear what he said,
I have no idea what to believe.
Nor do I think that anyone really knows what to believe about 90% of
any news that's reported.

Mrs. Rabbit (and you know I love you), but there's lots of other
posters here that post far more broad strokes than I, that you could
say the same thing about, and it would probably ring far truer.
