You are arguing yourself into a corner. Governments are supposed to
govern ie by organizing and regulating social and economic activity of
the country. If government does not intervene to mediate antagonisms
between capital and labor, society cannot function. One of the major
problems confronting society is the fact that government is a front
for the corporations, therefore representing the interests of capital
at the expense of labor--which means capital has a free hand to
exploit labor--no regulation.

The enormous debt that has accrued over the last period is the result
of complete deregulation demanded by the corporations. Default swaps
and Hedge fund activity took place without any oversight whatsoever--
by 2004 the banks demanded that all restrictions on the amount they
can borrow in proportion to assets held be removed and it was--it was
former Treasury secretary Paulson that headed this push when he was
the CEO of Goldman Sachs, and then when it all unravelled, the
corporate controlled government appointed him treasury secretary were
he then proceeded to pilfer public funds to pay off corporate gambling
debts that he was instrumental in creating--and this is but one small
example--all of Obama's financial advisers and appointees are
rapacious, ruthless representitves of the most venal sections of
finance capital.

The propertied class are the ruling class. They form the government,
write the laws and enforce them--is this not self evident? The US gets
into financial strife and the ruling class sets about rewriting laws,
abrogating democratic rights and launching wars of imperialist plunder
to shore up their positions. I am only stating what is actually taking
place, it ain't that complicated.
