Studio, are you talking about Republicans in 2009 or Democrats in
1991? Please don't pretend the Republicans are acting any differently
than the Democrats did when Bush Sr gave his speech.

VT, I don't recall Bush Sr asking kids to write letters with ideas on
how to help President Bush. Got a link to that?

That President Obama, or any President, wishes to address students is
fine. I actually think it's kinda neat. Any objections with the
content should be made only once the content is made available.

An objection with the “lesson plans”, however, is completely
reasonable. If this was only about inspiring the kids, then do so with
the speech and allow instructors and parents to build on it. That the
administration planned to drive post speech activities is out of line,
and Obama should have known people would object. I sometimes think
President Obama is either not seasoned enough, or on overload, and is
allowing those around him to make some really poor decisions.
