Must be a pretty weak shotgun if it can't shoot through house doors or walls without the need for a slug. --- bird shot will not go through a wall or door past 15-20 feet and kill an intruder
Why would they be buying such a weak shotgun? --- I own a Remington super express magnum that shoots 3.5" shells. Not what anyone would consider a weak shotgun.
